This SUV hits showrooms with four trims: the S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. From the start you'll find stylish accessories ranging from 17- to 18-inch wheels, a black lower grille, and a body-color rear spoiler. Engine (Power)
The Ford Escape offers one of three powerful engines under the hood, the first being a 2.5-liter inline-four producing 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The second is a 1.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine generating 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The top unit is a 2.0-liter turbocharged Twin Scroll EcoBoost engine churning out 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. All three run alongside a six-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
Each trim comes standard with front-wheel drive, but this can be swapped out for four-wheel drive on the SE, SEL, and Titanium. You can also expect to see great fuel efficiency on all trims, starting with 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway in the base S. The Titanium adds 1 mpg to the city estimate, while the SE and SEL earn 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. The Ford Escape has quite the capable powertrain as well. It expertly handles bumps and dips thanks to features such as electric power-assisted steering, traction and curve control, and anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes. Plus, the Titanium has the potential to haul up to 3,500 pounds when equipped with a Class II Trailer Tow Package, which delivers expert towing efficiency so you can stay focused on what's ahead.
Interior
This SUV truly does feel like an "escape" away from home. It seats up to five passengers and boasts comforts such as a center floor console with armrest and media bin, a manual tilt/telescopic steering wheel, and a SYNC infotainment system with Apple and Android smartphone integration. However, you can deck-out the cabin with much more than just the basics. Available upgrades include leather-trimmed front bucket seats, a 10-speaker Sony sound system, and a SYNC 3 multimedia system with Wi-Fi hot spot and voice-activated navigation to help make your road trip all the more convenient.
