Blue 2020 Ford Edge on Street

The 2020 Ford Edge is a top contender in the midsize SUV segment. Apart from two capable engines, this SUV offers one of the roomiest cabins in its class and impressive standard tech and safety features. You can choose from five trims with the Edge: the SE, SEL, ST Line, Titanium, and ST. Here’s a short overview of the top features this modern SUV has to offer.

1. Fuel-Efficient and Performance-Oriented Engines

The Edge offers two engine choices. With an output of 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, the base turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will provide you with adequate power. It’s paired with an eight-speed transmission system and front-wheel drive is standard. You can, however, opt for all-wheel-drive. Rated at 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, you’ll receive a good fuel economy from this engine. In addition, this engine will provide you with a maximum tow rating of 3,500 pounds when paired with the available Class II Trailer Tow Package and an all-wheel-drive system.

If you opt for the performance-focused ST trim, your Edge will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 engine that’s also mated to an eight-speed automatic and kicks out 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Apart from the fact that this one of the most powerful gas V-6 engines in its class, it also delivers a respectable fuel-efficiency rating of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The standard intelligent all-wheel-drive system will provide you with improved security in different weather and road conditions by automatically balancing torque between the front and rear wheels.

2. Spacious Cabin

The Edge boasts a spacious cabin that offers comfortable seating for up to five passengers. Behind the rear seats, you’ll find a cargo area of 39.2 cubic feet, which you can extend to 73.4 cubic feet if you fold the rear seats down. The base trim is decently equipped with standard features like dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, cruise control, a cargo management system, cloth upholstery, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.

Higher trims add nice-to-haves like a wireless charging pad, remote start, ambient lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, memory features, a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel, a power-adjustable passenger’s seat, and heated front seats.

3. Impressive Standard Technology

The Edge will keep you both entertained and safe on the road with an abundance of standard technology and safety features. The standard Sync 3 system, which is one of the best interfaces currently available, offers standard features like an 8-inch display, six speakers, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot, and SiriusXM. You can also opt for an available rear dual-headrest DVD entertainment system, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and navigation.

What’s more, all Edge trims come standard with the Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite, which consists of advanced driver-assist systems like post-collision braking, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping, a reverse sensing system, high-beam headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and a rearview camera.
