Since its launch in 1964, the Ford Mustang has been one of the most popular sports cars in the U.S. Like its predecessors, the new 2020 Ford Mustang offers a blend of track-focused performance, a striking design, and everyday convenience. You can choose from a whole array of trims with the Mustang, namely the EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and Bullitt, as well as the high-performance Shelby GT350, GT350R, and GT500. Here’s some more information on this popular pony.
Six High-Powered Engines
The 2020 Mustang offers six available engines. Although the base engine is not a V-8, this 2.3-liter four-cylinder provides an energetic output of 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. If you opt for the High-Performance package, you’ll receive a more powerful version of this engine that delivers 330 horsepower. With the GT models comes a robust 5-liter V-8 that makes 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The Bullitt trim offers the same engine but with a higher output of 480 horsepower.
For a more track-oriented performance, opt for the GT350. This trim is powered by a 5.2-liter V-8 engine that kicks out 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. With a staggering output of 700 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque, it’s the high-performance version of this engine, however, that steals the show. If this is the power you’re looking for, go for the GT500.
Track-Inspired Performance
Although the lower two trims are powered by a V-6, it doesn’t mean you cannot get a more track-inspired performance from the EcoBoost and GT models. If you opt for the High-Performance package, your pony will come equipped with heavy-duty front springs, unique chassis tuning, larger brakes with four-piston calipers, a larger rear spoiler, a MagneRide damping system, Pirelli Corsa tires, and an active valve performance exhaust that features four modes: Quiet Start, Sport, Normal, and Track.
None of the trims come close to the Shelby GT500, however, when it comes to true race-car performance. This trim’s 5.2-liter engine is paired with an all-new Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which is the first dual-clutch system on a Mustang ever. This transmission system comes with multiple modes that will afford you lightning-fast shifts, as well as an integrated launch control system. In addition, the GT500 boasts a standard MagneRide damping system that will provide you with a smooth and balanced ride.
Striking Design
The Mustang features a striking design that’s both aesthetically pleasing and aerodynamic. You can choose from 18 different wheels styles and a range of unique exterior color choices, including Rapid Red, Race Red, Kona Blue, Twister Orange, and Grabber Lime. In addition, you can also choose between coupe and convertible body styles with the EcoBoost and GT trims.
Standard exterior features include dual bright exhaust tips, hood vents, daytime running lights, LED head- and taillight, and mirrors with integrated blind-spot indicators. Higher trims add several convenience and performance features, such as a rear diffuser, a carbon rear wing, LED fog lamps, pony projection lights, heated mirrors with turn-signal indicators, and a raised blade decklid spoiler.
