Ford uses its Ford Blue Advantage program to classify a vehicle as Blue or Gold certified. Your decision will ultimately be based on what you’re looking for. However, first, let’s define what it means to be Blue vs Gold certified.

Here are the requirements for a vehicle to be classified as Blue Certified:

• The vehicle must be 10 model years or younger
• The vehicle must have fewer than 120,000 miles on its odometer
• The vehicle must pass a 139-point inspection

For comparison, here are the guidelines for Gold certification:

• The vehicle must be six model years or younger
• The vehicle must have fewer than 80,000 miles on its odometer
• The vehicle must pass a 172-point inspection
