New Ford Escape FAQs

Considering the Ford Escape? This sleek SUV will look great on your commutes around Palm Coast, St. Augustine, and Daytona Beach, FL.

It’s likely you’ll have some questions before you get the keys to a new machine. Our Ford Escape FAQs will go through a number of the most common ones. If there’s more you’d like to learn, contact us at Palm Coast Ford!

What Engines are Available with the Ford Escape?

The Ford Escape offers two gas engines as well as a traditional hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Various performance metrics are in store to help you decide which one is right for your drives.

Stick with the standard 1.5L EcoBoost® 3-cylinder engine, and you’ll experience up to 180 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. Upgrade to the available 2.0L EcoBoost® 4-cylinder engine to find even more power with 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.

With either hybrid engine, you’ll find 163 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. The total system horsepower climbs higher with 192 horsepower from the traditional hybrid and 210 horsepower with the plug-in hybrid.

What Transmissions are Available with the Ford Escape?

Your Ford Escape engine will come paired with one of two transmissions. For example, the standard 3-cylinder and available 4-cylinder gas engines come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. With the 4-cylinder engine, you’ll even find fun paddle shifters!

The two hybrid engines, on the other hand, come paired with an electronic Continuously Variable Transmission (eCVT).

Does the Ford Escape Have a Touchscreen?

Does the Ford Escape Have a Touchscreen?

Yes, the Ford Escape comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen through the SYNC® 4 system. It conveniently works via voice control so that you can safely access apps while on the go.

This touchscreen is compatible with a variety of popular apps, including wireless Apple CarPlay® and wireless Android Auto™. Connect your smartphone to the touchscreen to call a friend, play music, or find directions to a new place!

Lots of other technology systems are available, including a wireless phone charger. You’ll easily be able to keep your device powered up on the way to the office.

Is There a Lot of Cargo Space in the Ford Escape?

Is There a Lot of Cargo Space in the Ford Escape?

The Ford Escape comes with the cargo flexibility you need to get the family around and also transport larger items. Thanks to the standard 60/40 split-folding rear seat, you’ll be able to open up the storage area to its maximum potential.

With the gas version of the Escape, you’ll find a minimum cargo volume of 37.5 cubic feet behind the second row. When both rear seat sections are folded down, you’ll find up to 65.4 cubic feet.

The hybrid Escape’s cargo volumes only differ slightly. The minimum volume measures 34.4 cubic feet, while the maximum volume reaches 60.8 cubic feet.

This cargo-carrying gets even easier with the available power liftgate as you load up your gear.

Can the Ford Escape Tow?

When that gear is too large to fit in the cabin, you’ll need a trailer that can tow it. Luckily, the Ford Escape offers a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped with the available 4-cylinder engine and the Class II Trailer Tow Package.
