Blue 2020 Ford Edge

The fully redesigned 2020 Ford Escape not only offers the space and versatility that you expect from an SUV, but also the fun handling and performance you’d find with a smaller car. The Escape is offered in S, SE, SE Sport Hybrid, SEL, and Titanium trim levels. All-wheel drive is an option for most models. Here are some of the Escape’s superb features.

Stylish Exterior

The 2020 Escape features a sporty, mustang-inspired front end and a profile with fluid, aerodynamic curves. These, along with its wider, longer, and lower stance, give the Escape an impressive road presence that will get you noticed.

The S trim offers configurable daytime running lights, 17-inch wheels, front and rear skid plates, a color-keyed rear spoiler, and twin chrome exhaust tips. SE models add LED signature lighting, alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, and color-keyed door handles and heated mirrors.

Stepping up to the SEL gets you fog lights, black roof rails, and a hands-free liftgate, while Titanium models add LED fog lights.

Engine Options

Under the hood of the S, SE, and SEL is a perky turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that generates 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. Standard for the Titanium and optional with the SEL is a smooth and responsive turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Both of these engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

SE and SEL models have plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options, while the Titanium is available with hybrid and PHEV engines. These powertrains feature a 2.5-liter engine paired with an 88 kWh electric motor to deliver a total output of 200 horsepower via the continuously variable transmission. Hybrid and PHEV equipped models can tow up to 1,500 pounds, while the 1.5-liter EcoBoost can haul 2,000 pounds, and the 2.0-liter pulls an impressive 3,500 pounds.

Comfortable and Versatile Interior

The Escape features versatile seating and cargo options. The 60/40 split-folding second row offers a new sliding function to give you more cargo space or best-in-class rear legroom of 40.7 inches. With the rear seats folded flat, you get 65.4 cubic feet of cargo space.

Inside the S trim are cloth seats, air conditioning, a 4.2-inch cluster display, a rotary gear shift dial, three 12-volt power outlets, an infotainment system with a Wi-Fi hot spot, and six-speaker audio with satellite radio.

The SE features push-button start, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, automatic temperature control, and the Sync 3 system with an 8-inch touch screen and smartphone integration.

The SE Sport Hybrid adds a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while the SEL offers ActiveX upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and memory driver’s seat and mirrors. The top-of-the-range Titanium features leather seating, a power passenger seat, ambient lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a wireless charging pad, a 10-speaker B&O sound system, and the option of a head-up display. All but the S trim offer an available panoramic moonroof.
