2020 Ford Ranger

The 2020 Ford Ranger combines all-terrain capability with modern technology. This mid-size truck features a powerful turbocharged engine, a best-in-class payload rating, and many available modern features. In addition, the Ranger boasts excellent off-road chops when equipped with the available FX Off-Road package. Here’s some more information on this capable and modern truck.

1. Powerful Engine

All Ranger trims feature a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and produces 270 horsepower and a top-rated 310 pound-feet of torque. You can opt for either a rear-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive system across all trims. This engine delivers excellent fuel economy for its class. When equipped with front-wheel drive, the Ranger delivers 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, and with an all-wheel-drive system, 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

Apart from its efficiency, this engine is also powerful and will provide you with a best-in-class maximum payload rating of 1,860 pounds. If you opt for the available Trailer Tow package, you’ll be able to tow up to an impressive 7,500 pounds.

2. Good Performance

The Ford Ranger is a durable truck that’s constructed from a high-strength steel frame with six members. Increased ruggedness is provided through frame-mounted steel bumpers and tow hooks. The double A-arm independent front suspension of the Ranger provides excellent control and agility when you’re navigating over rough terrain, while the parabolic rear leaf springs make for a smoother and more controlled ride both on and off the road.

3. Excellent Off-Road Capability

If you’re into off-roading, opt for the available FX4 Off-Road package that offers many advanced off-road features. These include tuned off-road monotube shocks, all-terrain tires, a traction-enhancing electronic-locking rear differential, an exposed steel front bash plate, and skid plates.

This package also comes standard with a terrain management system that provides optimum traction and performance through four selectable drive modes. Depending on the terrain you’re navigating, you can opt for Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts, and Sand. In addition, the package features a trail control system that automatically adjusts throttle and braking and maintains a constant speed so that you can focus on the road ahead.

New with the 2020 Ranger model is an available FX2 package that offers both aesthetic and off-road performance enhancements, such as body side decals, standard 17-inch off-road OWL tires, an electronic rear differential, and an off-road suspension.

4. Modern Technology

The Ranger doesn’t only offer durable performance but also modern technology. The optional Sync 3 infotainment system is easy to use and offers many convenient features, such as an 8-inch display, SiriusXM, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and six speakers. A convenient standard feature is the FordPass Connect application, which allows you to find parking ahead of time and lock, unlock, and start your vehicle remotely.

To keep you safe on the road, opt for the available Co-Pilot360 safety suite that offers advanced driver-assist technologies like lane-keeping, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, auto high-beam headlights, and a rearview camera.
